Here’s an idea. Instead of spending a thousand dollars on something your friend doesn’t need for her wedding, why not give her this. It costs next to nothing, is extremely personalisable, and very useful. Let me show you how you can make it yourself.
We bought the frame from the department store. If you know what your friend’s ring looks like try to get one to match it. If you can’t find one you like then you can make one yourself. Get a regular plain wide wooden frame and glue on beads, gems and pearls onto it.
Then open up the back. Take out the glass or transparent plastic they used for the front. You won’t be needing it. Get a piece of cardboard. Cut it down to the right size so it fits into the frame exactly – won’t help anyone if it moves around. Then cover the cardboard with some fabric, preferably white silk as that works best, but you can use whatever fits. Glue the fabric to the cardboard tight.
Next you need a large pin, one that won’t break easily and is strong enough to bear the weight of the ring. Now stick the pin through the front of the cardboard (the side that’s covered by fabric). Stick it in about ¾th, leaving about an inch hanging out the front. Bend the pin on the rear side of the cardboard downwards, flush with the cardboard. Glue it down with superglue to keep it from moving around as it could ruin the fabric if it moves around too much.
Put the cardboard with the pin into the frame and reattach the back cover. And you’re done. Let us know if you have any questions in the comments below.
